Resum:
The important traffic growth of the main european ports is an unquestionable fact. Nevertheless, it becomes each day more clear that one of the main constraints for their development is found on the lack of capacity (or quality) of their main land accesses. So these land accesses are the main bottlenecks of port developing.
The program adopted by the European Commission on april the 7h for the promotion of short sea shipping reinforces the interest of solving the land access to ports in a proper way.
In this context, the object of this communication is presenting the main conclusions of the study on the policies adopted by the ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp (Anvers), Le Havre and Barcelona to increase their competitiveness by means of a solution to their accessibility problems by land: road ans railway.
