Mateu Turró Calvet – Scientific Director for the Financing Department Transport
Dr. Mateu Turró is Doctor Ingeniero de Caminos, Canales y Puertos, Master of Science from the University of Michigan and Professor of Transport of the ETS d'Enginyers de Camins, Canals i Ports de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He has just returned to the UPC after working since 1988 to April 2009 in the European Investment Bank. His last position was as Associate Director of Project Management, responsible for the evaluation of urban projects, including urban transport, urban renewal and social housing and municipal programmes, often involving multisectoral capital expenditure. His team developed with the European Commission, the JESSICA initiative.
His professional activity has developed in the field of transport, urban planning and infrastructure financing. He has authored numerous articles and monographs on various topics related to transport, urban development and infrastructure in general. He has written the book "Going Trans-European. Planning and financing transport networks for Europe" (Pergamon, Elsevier, 1999) on European transport infrastructure policy and, in 2005, RAILPAG, Rail Project Evaluation Guidelines (EIB, European Commission).
His research lines include:
- Socio-economic appraisal of transport projects and urban renewal.
- Financing of urban projects and large infrastructures with private participation.
- Indicators of the regional impact of infrastructure and transport services.
