Francesc Soriguera – Project Manager of CENIT
Francesc Soriguera holds a PhD. in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC–BarcelonaTech), and postgraduate diplomas in Management of Port Operations, Public Works Management and Private Management of Infrastructures. During this educational stage he was visiting student at the University of Liverpool (UK), and was awarded a special mention in the 1st edition of the Abertis Prize in Management of Transportation Infrastructures (2004). He joined CENIT in 2005 after been working in the field of engineering consultancy. During 2007 he was appointed visiting scholar at the University of California at Berkeley (USA), hosted by Prof. Carlos Daganzo, where he continued his research on the topic of his PhD thesis, entitled “Highway Travel Time Estimation with Data Fusion” defended in 2010. Since 2007, he is assistant professor at the Department of Transportation Infrastructures and Planning of the Technical University of Catalonia. His research papers have been published in the most prestigious journals in the field, such as Transportation Research Part B and Part C, Transportmetrica and IEEE Transactions on ITS, among others.
His current research topics include:
- Traffic analysis and management.
- Improvement of urban mobility.
- Optimization of transportation operations.
